RCE Chubu

Description of RCE and Geographic Region:
RCE Chubu focuses its activities within a region which is called the ‘Ise-Mikawa Watershed Area’, a region covered by rivers which flow into Ise-Mikawa Bay. This area roughly corresponds to the three prefectures of Aichi, Gifu, and Mie.

Chubu University

Goals and Objective:
Our activities aim to clarify the natural, economic, and social problems which hinder sustainable development, and to develop a network for developing individuals who will be able to resolve such problems. In more concrete terms, our activities consist of the following:
Education and mutual learning at all levels – formal, informal, and non-formal
Educating individuals who have a holistic and critical point of view, can conceive the relation between humans and nature, and can plant the seeds of ESD into local communities
Research and development of methods to measure the level of achievement of ESD and SDGs in the region

RCE Chubu Committee is a network organisation located in the Tokai-Chubu region. We collaborate with more than 80 groups (educational institutions, NPOs, governmental institutions, and corporations) in order to promote education for sustainable development (ESD). Of these groups, 7 individuals from particular groups, including the Chancellors of Chubu University and of Nagoya University, are responsible for core operational tasks.

Traditional Japanese Festivals and Biodiversity Conservation Projects to Achieve the SDGs
Research and Study for the Achievement of SDGs in the Ise-Mikawa Watershed Area

Achievements:
Many Alumni of the Chubu School of Sustainability Policy, a total of 120 graduates
Produced highly qualified personnel to become members of the Nagoya City Council, Kariya City Council, etc
